Va. FF ejected from fire engine after crashing into tree

Two firefighters were injured after the apparatus they were riding in ran off the road and hit a tree

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. — A Louisa County Department of Fire/EMS firefighter was ejected from the fire truck she was riding in after it struck a tree on Sunday.

The ejected firefighter was airlifted to the University of Virginia hospital with life-threatening injuries. She is now in stable condition, according to an update on the department’s Facebook page.

A second firefighter was also injured in the crash and taken a hospital but has since been released.

Both firefighters were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
