EASTON, Kan. — A Kansas volunteer firefighter died in a crash responding to a structure fire on Sunday night.
The Easton Township Fire Department reported the death early Monday morning in a statement on Facebook. Officials said the Easton firefighter was en route to the fire in the township when he “was killed in the line of duty in a traffic accident.”
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the firefighter and to the other members of the department as we are one family,” the agency’s statement read.
The department thanked all those who reached out in a comment later Monday and said funeral arrangements for the fallen firefighter are pending. The identity of the firefighter has not been released.
