NC firefighter dies in crash returning from training

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A North Carolina firefighter died on Friday night in a vehicle crash while returning home from training.

Spring Lake Firefighter Corbin Rogers, 20, had just attended a ladder training class and was driving home when the crash occurred, according to the Spring Lake Fire Department.

North Carolina Highway Patrol said Rogers’ vehicle collided with another vehicle head-on after crossing the center line and that it was raining at the time of the collision, according to ABC 11.

Rogers had been with the Spring Lake Fire Department for five months, according to a Facebook post by the department.

“Our hearts go out to Corbin’s family and we ask that you keep them and his fellow Spring Lake firefighters in your thoughts and prayers,” said Fire Chief Jason Williams.
