Texas firefighter dies of COVID-19

Michael “Turtle” McGuire was a career firefighter and served with the Copperas Cove Fire Department for 18 years

COPPERAS COVE, Texas — Firefighter Michael “Turtle” McGuire died Thursday in the line of duty, the Copperas Cove Fire Department announced on Facebook.

The department said that he passed away due to complications from an illness. The U.S. Fire Administration lists his cause of death as COVID-19.

McGuire was 52 and had served with the department for 18 years, KWTX reported.
