MENOMONIE, Wis. — A firefighter stopped to propose to his girlfriend while walking in a holiday parade, and had another sparkly surprise in store for her daughter.

ABC News reported that Menomonie Fire Department firefighter Matt Poliak proposed to Grace Johnson, and after she said “yes” he got down on one knee again to propose to her 3-year-old daughter Isla, with another diamond ring on a necklace for her.

“I was sitting at the jewelry store in Woodbury, Minnesota, and I knew I wanted to have something for her too when I was down on my knee for Grace,” Poliak said. “I wanted to show her she was important to the process. I got Grace’s ring picked out and I got a smaller, much, much, smaller diamond for Isla. It’s on a chain so she can wear it as a necklace.”

“He is always thinking of not only me but also Isla,” Johnson said. “That’s been amazing and so helpful for me for so many reasons. It was so sweet that he actually thought to ask her if she wanted to be a part of the family as well.”
