The service has been live-streamed on the Fire Department’s Facebook page.

Flagler leaves behind his wife, Jenny, and their two sons, Brody and Jack.

He was among other crew members from Fire Station 83 that responded to the fire at around 2 a.m. on Tarapaca Road. He was overcome with smoke and fire while inside the home and issued a Mayday alert, officials said. Flagler died at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Flagler was a firefighter for 21 years, serving 19 years with the Vernon Fire Department before coming to the Los Angeles County Fire Department in October 2020.

He was a “devoted husband, father, uncle, friend, and hero. He was a highly respected and esteemed LACoFD firefighter who truly embodied our core values of courage, caring, commitment, community, integrity, and teamwork while on- and off-the job,” the Fire Department said in a statement. “(He) will be tremendously missed by all of us – and we will never forget him.”
