KHOU

ROSENBERG, Texas — The family of Houston firefighter Anne Sullivan is remembering her by raising money to support other women who want to be firefighters.

“This is what Anne wanted to do since she was 17 years old,” said her mother, Mary Sullivan. “She came home one day and said she wanted to be a firefighter.”

Sullivan and three other members of the Houston Fire Department were killed while fighting a five-alarm blaze at the Southwest Inn Motel in May. She had just joined the department and the motel was only her second fire with HFD. Hundreds of people were expected to come out to the Route 36 Bar and Dance Hall in Rosenberg to take part in the fundraiser for the Anne Sullivan Firefighter Memorial Fund.
