PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Donations worth more than $800,000 have been received by three groups that have been working to raise money to help the families of the 19 Arizona firefighters who were killed last weekend.
The Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial Incident Management Team says the funds have been collected by the 100 Club of Arizona, the Wildland Firefighters Foundation and the United Phoenix Firefighters Association.
In Phoenix, the Arizona Diamondbacks have already helped raise $90,000 in donations, and the team’s foundation has matched that.
Starting Friday, the team will also be auctioning off special tribute jerseys to raise more money.
A special presentation to recognize Arizona’s first responders and members of the military is planned before Friday’s game against the Colorado Rockies at Chase Field.
