SWEETWATER, Texas — 22-year-old Nicholas Barton of Sweetwater, a paramedic with the Sweetwater Fire Department, was critically injured in a motorcycle wreck on Wednesday morning in Fisher County.
Barton was eastbound on his motorcycle on FM 57 at 9:15 a.m. A westbound Dodge Ram pickup turned in front of Barton, and the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Dodge. Barton was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock in critical condition.
According to fellow firefighter Seth Weston, doctors are saying that Barton should make a recovery without surgery. He has a clot on the left side of his brain and doctors are hoping it will resolve itself and not require surgery. He will be in ICU for several days to come.
