MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — One firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital while battling a house fire that displaced eight people, including six children.
First responders were able to get everyone out of the house safely, but a Monroe County firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and extreme dehydration and was transported to Monroe County Hospital. The firefighter is expected to make a full recovery, WMAZ 13 reported.
One of the family members displaced from the home, Tena, said she believes the fire started from her refrigerator. An investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
