OKLAHOMA CITY — For one firefighter, the ultimate Throwback Thursday photo came a day early.

KFOR.com reported that Ryan Tyson, with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, wears the same engine number now that he wore on a toy helmet as a 2-year-old. The department tweeted a before and after photo of Tyson with number 51 on both helmets.

“The kid had some serious foresight,” the department wrote on Twitter.

Tyson’s mom said as a child he got up every morning and put on his boots, mask and helmet and rode around in a metal fire truck.

“His dream came true,” she said. “Of course, I’m the mother who is proud of her son’s accomplishments.”

Last week, the department announced its plans to take Engine 51 out of service on July 1. The department has applied for a grant, which could save the station.
