HOUSTON — Three Houston firefighters were hospitalized after part of a house collapsed on them while they battled flames Wednesday morning.
Crews were called to the home in the 8900 block of Wynmeadow Drive near Hobby Airport around 2 a.m. The home had heavy flames shooting out of the windows as firefighters arrived.
Three firefighters went inside the home to fight the blaze from within, which is when the home partially collapsed on top of them. They were quickly evacuated from the home and taken to a nearby hospital.
Firefighters spent another hour quelling the flames from outside the house.
The injured firefighters are expected to be OK. No one else was injured.
Arson investigators are working to determine how the fire started.
