RAYMOND, N.H. — The Raymond Fire Department announced on Facebook the line-of-duty death of Firefighter Eric Phillips.
Phillips suffered a medical emergency while responding to a call on the evening of Sept. 4. He was taken to Exeter Hospital, where he died on Sept. 5 despite efforts by fellow first responders.

Phillips had served with the Raymond Fire Department for five years. The department remembered him as a dedicated firefighter, trusted colleague and friend who served the Raymond community with courage and compassion.
“The Raymond Fire Department is heartbroken by the sudden and unexpected loss of Eric. Eric dedicated five years of his life to serving the people of Raymond, and his commitment to his fellow firefighters and our community will never be forgotten,” Chief Jason Grant said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Eric’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.”
The department extended condolences to Phillips’ family and said it is supporting its members. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Eric’s passing is a devastating loss to his family, department, and community. He leaves behind his wife, Jill, who is now facing the difficult days ahead without him. In addition to grieving this tremendous loss, she must manage the immediate financial expenses that follow Eric’s passing.
