YUMA, Colo. — Darcy Stallings, 34, a fire captain with the Yuma Volunteer Fire Department, died Thursday while responding to a call in his personal vehicle, the U.S. Fire Administration and CBS Denver reported.
Stallings’ vehicle rear-ended a semi roughly a mile northeast of Yuma, according to the Colorado State Police. His vehicle became wedged under the tractor-trailer.
Two men who were in the semi could not free Stallings from the wreckage, which caught fire, CSP Master Trooper Gary Cutler said. Stallings was reportedly unconscious at the time and passed away at the scene.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday.
