Mayday: Ore. firefighter falls through floor, calls for help
The firefighter told Portland Fire & Rescue that when he stepped forward “the floor that was there, just wasn’t there anymore”

PORTLAND, Ore. — A Portland Fire & Rescue firefighter fell through the floor to the basement of a burning house Wednesday morning and made a mayday call.
As there was heavy smoke but not a heavy presence of heat in the home, a crew went inside, KOIN reported.
A second alarm was activated, KPTV reported.
The firefighter told PF&R that when he stepped forward “the floor that was there, just wasn’t there anymore,” officials said.
Crewmembers safely removed the firefighter and put out the fire.
