PITTSBURGH —Firefighters rescued three people from a burning home early Thursday in New Castle.
Denise Bradley, 52, was found badly burned and barely breathing on the floor behind the front door by firefighters Bob Eakin and Shawn Johnson, who pulled her to safety, said Assistant New Castle fire Chief David Joseph. She was taken to UPMC Mercy, Uptown, where she was in critical condition last night.
Two men who were not injured were rescued by other firefighters from a front porch roof, Joseph said.
Bradley, the two men and three residents from the other side of the duplex were left homeless in the fire that erupted about 1:30 a.m. along Pearson Street, Joseph said. The duplex was destroyed. Investigators are still trying to determine a cause of the fire, but Joseph said it appears to be accidental.
