TEXAS CITY, Texas — Bystander video captured the moment firefighters rescued three children during an apartment fire in Texas City.
Texas City firefighters responded to a fire at the Del Sol Apartments at 6:45 a.m. on Feb. 21, KHOU reported.
Battalion Chief Micah Simons said there were reports of people trapped inside. When firefighters arrived they saw the children on a balcony and rescued them using a ground ladder.
“There were two units basically fully involved, so we were fighting from behind when we got here,” Simons said. “Our primary focus was getting the people out that were trapped.”
No trapped occupants were found and there were no reported injuries. Sixteen families were displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
