The second-annual What Firefighters Want state-of-the-industry survey is now live.

The fire service is facing a perfect storm: recruitment and retention challenges, expanding job expectations, strains on behavioral health – all leading to heightened stress among members, which only fuels additional challenges. Some worry this cycle of stressors has pushed the fire service to a breaking point.

For current members, how are departments offering support? Further, as the all-hazards response nature of the job grows, how can members stay current with expanding expectations without reaching burnout levels?

With the support of the IAFC and the International Public Safety Data Institute, the second-annual What Firefighters Want state-of-the-industry survey unpacks these complex questions to find potential solutions.

The results, including expert analysis from fire service experts, will be published in the “What Firefighters Want 2023" Digital Edition in August 2023.
