BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder’s new fire training center has been recognized for its design.
Since opening in July, the 10-acre site near Boulder Reservoir has been recognized with a Merit Award for Built Architecture and the People’s Choice Award from the American Institute of Architects. It also won an Award of Citation from the American Institute of Architects’ Colorado chapter.
Roth + Sheppard Architects designed the training center for the city. It includes a state-of-the-art training tower and burn building, as well as a 15,800-square-foot classroom and administration building.
Paid for through county sales tax collections from 2002 to 2004, and a temporary city sales tax in 2007, the center is available to provide training for all 26 fire departments in Boulder County.
