CLARKSVILLE, N.Y. — Volunteer firefighters were devastated Sunday morning to learn someone broke into their firehouse and vandalized all of their equipment.

WIVB reported that someone broke a window Saturday night at the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Company and spray painted vulgar words all over their trucks, helmets, PPE and other parts of the building. They also trashed computers and doors.

The fire company raises about $8,000 a year and the chief says the damage totals around $50,000, according to the report.

They will need to borrow equipment from other fire companies just to be able to fight fires.

“To be honest with you, I wanted to cry when I saw it,” said Clarksville Fire Chief Scott Sharp. “Many of the members, we pour our heart and souls into our equipment. And to come back and see someone slap us in the face, it’s disgusting.”

Police are investigating the vandalism. If you have any information that could help them, you can call the Amity barracks at (585)-268-9030.

There is a reward started by Amity Rescue to help catch the vandal.
