2 arrested in beating death of volunteer firefighter, 2 remain at large

Police believe the victim and the killers belonged to rival white supremacist groups

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities in Franklin County said they arrested two men and are searching for two others in connection with the beating death of a man in Franklin County.

Officials announced Tuesday that four Coffee County men targeted 26-year-old Corey Matthews due to his affiliation with a white supremacist organization, Aryan Nations. Investigators said at least one of the suspects is a member of another white supremacist organization, Aryan Brotherhood, and they believe the men had a meeting that ended in Matthews’ death.

On Monday, a special-called meeting of the Franklin County grand jury indicted 39-year-old Todd E. Dalton, 25-year-old Coty Keith Holmes, 26-year-old John Cory Lanier, and 46-year-old David Gordon Jenkins on first degree murder and felony muder charges. All four men have a criminal record.
