HARRISBURG, Ark. — A 25-year-old volunteer firefighter died Monday night due to heart problems.
KAIT8.com reported that Chris Greer was described as a key player at the Harrisburg (Ark.) Volunteer Fire Department, where he had volunteered for seven years. He was off duty when he died.
Fire Chief Danny Faulkner said he was “one of a kind” and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need.
Greer also volunteered at the Harrisburg School District and the police department.
“I know we are all volunteers,” Chief Faulkner said. “We all have to do a lot of different jobs and he was good at the ones he did. Somebody’s going to have to step up and fill in for him and that’s kind of hard to do.”
The fire department is planning a service that will be held at the end of the week.
