HADDAM, Conn. — Members of the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company joined thousands of people from around the world today in support of Seth Lane, a 5-year-old from Northamptonshire, England who’s battling a genetic condition called Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) or “Bubble Boy” disease.

In a YouTube video that has been watched nearly 300,000 times since his family posted it March 11, his parents asked people to wear yellow today (Seth’s favorite color), and post their pictures on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #WearYellowForSeth. Today, Seth will undergo a bone marrow transplant - his second in four and a half years.

Upon learning this and that Seth is an avid fan of firefighting-themed children’s shows, Haddam Firefighter Jeff Hartke organized fellow members to don their fire gear and draw up signs of encouragement to embolden Seth to keeping fighting. After all, yellow is their favorite color, too!
