COLTON, Ore. -- A beloved volunteer firefighter who was killed in a logging accident is being remembered by colleagues, friends and family.
David “Fuji” Fraijo died Tuesday and his death is being called a “heartbreaking loss” for the small town in Oregon, reports KATU TV.
The 54-year-old became a firefighter after he watched his son, Justin, drown in a boating accident. Justin had been a volunteer firefighter.
Fraijo volunteered with the Colton Rural Fire Protection District #70 for four years.
“Words cannot express how this will affect the Colton Fire family. Fuji was one of our own, a brother and a beloved friend. Fuji was Colton Fire,” the fire district wrote on its Facebook page.
Officials say Fraijo will be remembered for many things, but two in particular: his one-of-a-kind laugh and his “get the job done” attitude.
Details for a public memorial will be released shortly.
