CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — It has been almost 7 weeks since Marc Zingarelli was sworn in as Circleville’s Fire Chief, but now this 25-year veteran of the department has been placed on paid administrative leave.

“It is a shocker to tell you the truth,” said neighbor Butch Sowers, who lives in the same neighborhood as the Chief. “I don’t know what’s going on. He seems to be a pretty nice guy cause he always says hi to you.”

Circleville Mayor David Mcllroy was out of town and unavailable to comment Saturday about the Fire Chief. But council president David Crawford told 10-TV, “The city took the action because the mayor received a report last week which warranted an internal investigation.”
