City officials voted to approve an ambulance reallocation plan that reassigns 10 part-time ambulances to 6 full-time status, ABC15 reported.

“We want our community to rest assured that we are looking at this every day to make sure that we can maintain service and meet those response times to our community,” Phoenix Fire Chief Michael Duran said.

The ambulance status change will add approximately 50 jobs that are within the fire department’s budget.

Duran said the next step is to determine the best location for the new full-time ambulances in fire stations across the city.
