Man tries to snuff trash fire with ammo-laden van
Driving back and forth over the fire only set the van ablaze, which was packed with firearms ammunition and a full tank of fuel
LIBERTY, Mo. — A man who set a trash fire in a field that grew out of control tried to put out the fire by driving over it with his van.
His first problem was that the van's tires caught fire. His second problem was that the van was loaded with ammunition.
According to the Kansas City Star, a county sheriff's deputy found the burning van Tuesday afternoon, and backed away when heard the ammunition going off. The man told the deputy he fled when efforts to drive back and forth over the fire only set his van ablaze — aside from the ammo, the van had a full tank of fuel.
Firefighter from Liberty responded to make sure the fire didn't spread. There were no reported injuries.
