2 Colo. firefighters hurt after fire truck falls into sinkhole

Firefighters were responding to a call about an SUV being swept away by the sinkhole when their truck fell and landed on top of the vehicle

FOUNTAIN, Colo. — Two firefighters were seriously injured when their fire truck fell into a sinkhole.

9 News reported that the Hanover Fire Department firefighters were responding to a call about an SUV that was swept away by a sinkhole when their truck fell into the same sinkhole and landed on top of the vehicle, trapping the driver.

The firefighters were transported to the hospital, and the driver of the other vehicle was airlifted.

The fire truck was lifted out of the sinkhole by a Fort Carson Fire Department heavy rescue rig.

Everyone injured in the incident suffered serious injuries but are expected to recover, according to KOAA.
