Firefighter Clayton Harden, 22, is charged with DUI and larceny of a motor vehicle, along with other offenses

BRISTOL, R.I. — An off-duty firefighter allegedly stole a special hazards truck and crashed it into a homeowner’s lawn in Bristol, R.I., on Sunday.

“If it wasn’t for that tree, that truck would have been right through this house,” neighbor Frank Vaccaro told WPRI, pointing at the scene of the wreck.

Volunteer Firefighter Clayton Harden, 22, was allegedly the driver of the truck after he took it from the Dreadnaught Fire Company station.

Firefighter Harden is charged with DUI and larceny of a motor vehicle, along with other offenses.

Video footage from the scene of the crash shows the special hazards truck upside-down.
