SAN ANTONIO — A video of a joyride in a fire truck posted on social media resulted in a 10-day suspension for a San Antonio firefighter in July, according to records obtained by mySA.com.

Firefighter Jason Persyn agreed to give up 89 hours of vacation in lieu of serving the suspension, the records showed.

On Feb. 24, Persyn gave a tour of his station to visitors, whose names and relationship to Persyn were redacted in the document.

After giving them a walking tour, Persyn drove the people on one of the fire engines without permission from any of his supervisors, according to records.

Persyn and the other passengers also did not wear seat belts during the ride, according to the document.

Supervisors reportedly became aware of the ride after a video of it was posted onto social media.
