CONCORD, Mass. — Firefighters quickly contained a fast-moving fire at 135 Minot Road yesterday morning, a blaze that left two residents of the single-family home injured with non-life-threatening injuries, said Fire Chief Mark Cotreau.

The home sustained heavy fire damage and the cause was believed to be accidental, although Cotreau was not more specific. The fire’s cause was still under investigation, he said.

The fire was called in about 7:30 a.m. The fire was on the second floor, which also included a bedroom and kitchen area, and firefighters from Concord and other departments, including Bedford and Hanscom Air Force Base, battled it on mutual aid.

Ambulances were called to transport two people to the hospital, both of whom are in stable condition. One was treated for smoke inhalation and the other some burns, Cotreau said. A third person who suffered minor injuries declined medical treatment.

The residents were able to escape from the house before firefighters arrived, Cotreau said.

The house is located on a suburban residential street, near the Bedford line, and it runs off one of the main roads of town, he said.

“For the volume of fire they had, they had to stage an aggressive attack for the volume of fire they had,” Cotreau said. “And they really made short work of it.”
