LOS ANGELES — Fire officials say a small plane has crashed in Southern California, killing three people on board.

County fire Inspector Steve Zermeno says the crash was reported around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near Hawthorne Municipal Airport, south of Los Angeles.

Zermeno says the Cessna crashed into a parking lot behind a building.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allan Kenitzer had no immediate details of the crash.
