An Ann Arbor firefighter died this morning in a hospital, six days after she was struck and critically injured by a pickup truck as she responded to a series of car crashes on icy I-94.
Amy Pennywitt, who married in October and was previously known as Amy Schnearle, died at the University of Michigan Medical Center with her family by her side around 8:30 a.m. She was removed from life support Thursday.
A tearful Assistant Fire Chief Chris Brenner confirmed Pennywitt’s death and said no funeral arrangements had been made.
