Calif. firefighter dies after climb out of ravine

SIERRA CITY, Calif. — Chief Mike Heuer, 55, had spent several hours working to rescue a victim who had fallen down a ravine and broke a leg. After placing the individual into the ambulance and reportedly shortly after midnight, Heuer and others returned to the bottom of the ravine to retrieve ropes and other equipment where Chief Heuer, not feeling well, indicated that he needed a drink of water. Before a drink could be provided, Heuer had passed away from an apparent heart attack.
