ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — An Englewood metal recycling plant caught fire Wednesday evening and sent billows of smoke across the metro area.
About 50 firefighters responded to the All Recycling, 1775 W. Wesley Ave., about 7 p.m., said Marla Wilcox, Englewood fire spokeswoman. The blaze happened near Denver’s South Platte neighborhood.
The fire began under a pile of metal, and firefighters will have to deal with smoke coming from the yard for the next 24 hours.
Firefighters said they believe that the blaze began under metal waiting to be shredded. The fire did not cause any injuries and did not threaten structures, Wilcox said.
The American Red Cross Mile High Chapter sent volunteers to the plant to help emergency personnel at the scene late Wednesday.
