LAKE HAVASU CITY, Calif — A corrections officer collapsed and later died while working on a fire line near Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Wednesday.
Officer Douglas Falconer, 46, was working with a group of inmate firefighters with the Globe Wildland Fire Crew when he complained of dizziness after sitting. Officer Falconer collapsed from a cause that has not been determined.
According to a report by the US Fire Administration, inmate firefighters and other officers tried to revive Officer Falconer, but were unsuccessful. Paramedics transported him to a Needles, Calif., medical center where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after the initial incident.
