ALBANY, N.Y. — A city firefighter died Tuesday after a long battle with leukemia.

Canfield was also a flight medic for the 109th Airlift Wing of the Air National Guard in Glenville. He served 12 years on the Para Rescue Special Forces and did tours in Kuwait and Turkey. He was a responder at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and at the site of the TWA Flight 800 crash off of Long Island.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
