Delayed fire response in fatal attack on NY Times reporter probed

WASHINGTON — Investigators are trying to determine why it took an ambulance 22 minutes to respond Friday night after the report of an attack on New York Times reporter David Rosenbaum, who died of his injuries on Sunday.

Rosenbaum was found Friday night after apparently being hit in the head in his neighborhood on Gramercy Street Northwest.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter says the ambulance was dispatched from Providence Hospital in Northeast, miles away from the scene of the attack. He says the department is trying to determine whether another unit was available closer to the scene. and if there was, why it wasn’t it dispatched.
