INDIANAPOLIS — Fire destroyed an east side building that housed a fish market and several other businesses overnight.
Just before 1:00 am Monday morning, flames shot out of the small east side strip mall at the intersection of 21st and Ritter Avenue. When firefighters arrived the building was fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters called in additional help when the roof collapsed. A total of 100 men and women worked in shifts battling both the flames and the intense heat and humidity of the three-alarm fire. One firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and several others were treated at the scene for injuries. - Fire destroyed an east side building that housed a fish market and several other businesses overnight.
