DUSHORE, Pa. — Fire destroyed a rural house, killing two children and their mother who were home in bed, state police said.
The fire broke out early Saturday about 50 miles west of Scranton, killing Mariam Crane, 34, her 11-year-old son and her 9-year-old daughter, state Trooper Richard Geffken said.
The children’s names were not being released Sunday, he said.
Another daughter and Crane’s estranged husband were not home at the time of the fire, Geffken said.
Sullivan County Coroner Wendy Hastings said she believed finding the cause of the blaze would be difficult because of the extent of the damage.
