LONG BEACH, Calif. — An autopsy was pending today on a man’s body found after City firefighters put out a blaze along the Los Angeles River bike trail near Cressa Park.

Firefighters responding to a 6:39 a.m. report of a fire Saturday put out the vegetation fire and found the body along DeForest Avenue, just north of Pacific Coast Highway, on the east side of the river.

The body was turned over to Los Angeles County coroner’s investigators, who will try to identify the man and determine his cause of death.
