MPUMALANGA, South Africa — Two fire fighters were killed and several others injured when their vehicle overturned on a gravel road near Loskop in Mpumalanga on Tuesday, said Working on Fires.
Spokesperson Evelyn John Holtzhausen said the two, stationed at the Working on Fires base at Rust de Winter near Pretoria, were on their way to assist fire fighters with a veld fire near Loskop.
“The fire fighters were travelling in an approved Samel troop transport vehicle when the accident happened. Two were killed and seven sustained serious injuries.”
Eleven others were slightly injured, said Holtzhausen. He said the cause of the accident was not known.
