ALSTEAD – New Hampshire firefighters routinely respond to emergencies in neighboring communities, but last month’s flooding in the southwestern part of the state brought in rescuers who drove three hours to get there.
It was the first test of a new Statewide Fire Mobilization Plan designed to provide more help if fire departments in a specific area were stretched thin – exactly what happened the weekend of Oct. 9.
