HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Four Hopkinsville firefighters are free on bond after a grand jury charged them with third-degree burglary.
The four, Scott Bullard, 35, James Upton, 41, Glenn Pepper, 38, and Jason Gluff, 30, were arrested Friday and charged with third-degree burglary. Bullard, Upton and Pepper were also charged with theft by unlawful taking over $300.
The four men were investigated after an alleged burglary at a home that was scheduled to be destroyed as part of the city’s flood buyout program. Hopkinsville police said several items were taken from the house on May 15.
A neighbor called authorities after seeing several men remove fixtures from the house, according to police records. The items included doors, a bathroom vanity and a central air conditioning unit.
Firefighters had used the house to practice operations before it was demolished.
Fire Chief Fagan Pace declined to comment on the status of the firefighters who were indicted.
