Glendale, Ohio, fire department closes amid controversy

Village turns to Woodlawn while it ponders consultant’s report

GLENDALE, Ohio — The locks have been changed on the firehouse. The firefighters have been sent home. Glendale’s 116-year-old fire department is out of business.

For now.

“This is a black day for Glendale,” the mayor, Dr. Thomas Todd, said Friday. “We have a dysfunctional fire department. The atmosphere is very contentious. Some firefighters are against the chief, Don Latta. Some support him.”
