MILLINGTON, Tenn. — An early morning lightning strike has ignited a propane tank.
Fire officials say they’ve evacuated at least 20 employees who work in nearby industries as a precaution.
Fire Department spokesman Brent Perkins says no one has been injured.
Perkins said the 27,000-gallon tank was 60 percent filled with propane gas when the lightning caused it to burst into flames.
Perkins said fire crews were trying to cool the tank while fighting the fire. He said the tank’s safety valve is working, which is keeping the tank from exploding.
The area is 18 miles north of Memphis. No homes were threatened.
