Md. firefighter recovering from burns sustained in three-alarm fire

After suffering from respiratory burns, 26-year-old Prince George County firefighter Tim Ormerod was rushed to the burn unit at Washington Hospital Center. It was reported that Ormerod’s breathing equipment was not working properly during the incident.

Recently the Maryland firefighter had his intubation tubes removed and was able to meet with members of his family and his fiancee. After exchanging emotional moments with his fiancee, Beth Stevens, he asked if any other firefighters had been injured and expressed a desire to talk with his shift partner.

Omerod’s fiancee, Beth Stevens, was working at the 911 dispatch center when the call came over the radio identifying the injured firefighter. At the hospital she expressed her thanks and gratitude for those who had provided the couple with support during the ordeal.

The cause of the three-alarm fire is still under investigation.
