TAMPA, Fla. — A memorial service for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Capt. Christopher Artigas, who was shot dead Saturday, will be held Wednesday morning at Van Dyke United Methodist Church.
Hillsborough County deputies say Jorge Orlando Bello Garcia fatally shot his wife, Artigas and another woman. Garcia shot and wounded two deputies soon after. The rampage ended after another deputy shot Garcia in the head.
Artigas was hired by the department in March 1984 and became a fire captain in June 1995, a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue news release states.
