NAPA, Calif. — The Napa Fire Department will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2006. But the nearly century-old fire service has just experienced a first.
Napa Firefighter/Paramedic Sharon Quick, 37, has been promoted as the department’s first female captain.
Fire service has been part of Quick’s life since she was a teenager. Fresh out of high school, Quick took the test and started as seasonal firefighter with the Napa County Gordon Valley volunteer fire department.
