The Associated Press

ANTRIM, N.H. - A town firefighter was charged with driving drunk and causing an accident that totaled the fire chief’s car, but the chief’s not holding a grudge.

John Towne Sr. also was charged with failing to yield to another vehicle. He was freed on $1,000 bail.

Police said on Nov. 17, Towne made a left turn with his pickup truck right in front of an oncoming car driven by Fire Chief Marshall Beauchamp. Beauchamp’s wife, Joy, also was in the car. No one was seriously injured.
